Professional Points:
In order to start preparing for the real world/workplace, we have Professional Points throughout the year. Each student will get 5 points per day - 25 points per week. If you are caught not being professional you will lose a point. You only have 5 a day to lose. If you lose all your points in 1 day you will get detention as well.
Each day you will be graded on your professionalism. If you are professional throughout the day, you will keep all your points:
1. Completing work consistently - everyday
2. Having appropriate conversations - work/school appropriate
3. Staying on task - related to the lab/school.
4. Being in the lab at your seat on time, at the start of the day. (Following proper procedures for dismissal at the end of the day.)
5. Clean / Organized Desk Environment
6. Taking Appropriate break times
7. Respecting lab equipment, tools, and resources
Here are some examples of what can make you lose a point(s):
Rushing through labs and not doing anything productive the rest of the week. (Do BPA, Professional Improvement, work towards other certifications)
Not completing any lab work related to lab that day. (I have time tracking) don’t think you're slick with just opening a window and leaving it sit.
Not showing consistent work being complete that week. (Labs, Electives, other Certifications)
Wasting resources in the lab - tape, paper, breaking parts, misuse of tools.
Interfering with other members in class learning (loud noises, inappropriate sayings, consistent interrupting behavior)
Off task for long periods of time (pretending to be working)
Desk is a mess (teared up paper, misorganized, tape all over, tools out, inappropriate content out…Desks should be clean, uncluttered, and trash put in the trashcan.
Unexcused absence will result in loss of all points that day - no detention*
Sleeping in class
Gaming in class - (during not allowed times)
Disruptive behavior (rude comments/noises, mocking of individuals, reckless behavior)
If you do not complete your work for the week (labs) you will lose all professional points as well.
Coming to class late - without a slip*
Not using appropriate resources to complete tasks. (Examples = Taping PCs / cable management)
Not in uniform
Cheating on assignments - zero points for the week and on the assignment + Detention
Not completing any work/lab related work in class.
Excessive talking throughout class / off topic at class.
Not listening when someone is talking to the class.
Not following classroom rules/processes
*More will be added if deemed necessary
Comments will be made in Progress Book for what your loss of points will be, there will also be times (if it happens) that all of the class will lose points (being too loud). If you lose all your points in the week a detention will be added with conversations with Mrs. Cline. If you believe you were subtracted points that shouldn't have been - Mr. Meyer will be open to all conversations and in some cases will consider adjusting points if the student explains the situation in a professional manner and accepts feedback.
